Q: Has my bank been purchased or changed ownership?

A: No, this is simply a name and logo change, not a change of ownership. Our customers can rest assured that we are not moving away from our core banking business nor will staffing be impacted in any way.

Q: Why did you choose the name “Fortress Bank?”

A: We will soon open a full-service banking center in Davenport, Iowa at East 53rd Street and Interstate 74. Since we are expanding beyond the state of Illinois, the time has come for us to develop a brand that isn’t tied to a certain geographic area. The new name, Fortress Bank, symbolizes the trust, innovation, and strength of a dynamic financial institution.

Q: Has my account information changed?

A: No, there has been no change in your current account features or account numbers. Our bank routing number remains the same.

Q: Can I continue to use my checks and debit card?

A: Yes, you can continue using your debit card until the next renewal date. When we issue your new card at that time it will have our new logo on it. You can continue using your existing checks indefinitely as well. The Fortress Bank name and logo will appear on your next order of checks.

Q: Has your website and web address changed?

A: Yes. On December 1st we will launch a new website at www.BankFortress.com to go along with our new name. If you go to our old web addresses (www.firststateil.com), you will automatically be redirected to our new site.

Q: Has anything happened to my Online Banking and Bill Pay?

A: No action is required on your part, and you will continue to enjoy the same great services as before.

Q: What about Mobile Banking?

A: Our Mobile Banking app will be branded with our new name and logo in the near future. Please visit www.BankFortress.com/deposits/eservices for instructions when available.

Q: What happens with my direct deposit, Social Security and automatic payments to or from my account?

A: Your account numbers have not been impacted by our name change; therefore, your direct deposits and automatic withdrawals will remain unchanged.

Q: What about my loan, CDs or IRAs?

A: Nothing has changed.

Q: Can I bank at all Fortress Bank locations?

A: Yes! You can transact business at any of our locations, in addition to our newest banking center coming soon at 3260 E. 53rd St, Davenport, Iowa. A complete list is provided at the end of these FAQs.

What is a Business Day?

For determining the availability of your deposits, every day is a business day except Saturdays, Sundays, and federal holidays. 


What are Bank Federal Holidays?

Fortress Bank will be closed the following days in 2017:

Christmas Day - December 25, Monday

What is the Daily Transaction Cutoff?

Business transacted after the Business Day Cutoff will be considered next business day. If you make a deposit before the following times on a business day that we are open we will consider that day to be the day of your deposit. 

  • before 11:00 a.m. Colusa 
  • before 12:00 p.m. Blandinsville 
  • before 3:00 p.m. LaHarpe and Monmouth
  • before 3:30 p.m. Carthage and Hamilton
  • before 4:00 p.m. Macomb and Peoria

However, if you make a deposit after the times above or on a day we are not open, we will consider that the deposit was made on the next business day we are open.
