Lee is the Chairman and CEO of Fortress Bank and principal shareholder, key organizer and President of the Bank’s parent company, First State Bancorporation, Inc. He is responsible for the strategic planning for the Bank and for the development of the Bank’s activities in its northern markets. Lee is an entrepreneur with considerable experience in the merger, acquisition and operations of small businesses. His experience in banking includes working as a bank and bank holding company examiner for the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and as an accountant and loan review specialist for a Denver CPA firm. He is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Finance degree from the University of Wyoming. Lee received his master’s degree from the University of Denver.

President, Fortress Bank
Dean is the President of Fortress Bank, responsible for the leadership of the Bank and for the development of the Bank’s activities in Central Illinois, with a focus on the Peoria market. Additionally, Heinzmann is Executive Vice President and Director of First State Bancorporation, Inc., which is the holding company for Fortress Bank. He served as an organizer of the holding company in connection with its acquisition of the Bank in 2008. Prior to 2008, Dean served as Senior Vice President and Division Manager for LaSalle Bank National Association (acquired by Bank of America) and Senior Vice President of Bank One Illinois, N.A. (currently JP Morgan Chase). A graduate of the University of Illinois (B.S. Finance) and Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville (MBA), Dean’s community activities include Metropolitan Airport Authority of Peoria, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Illinois, Lutheran Hillside Village, FC Peoria and Heart of Illinois United Way.
Chief Financial Officer
Barbara is the Chief Financial and Operations Officer of Fortress Bank, and responsible for managerial oversight of financial, investment, information systems, and electronic banking activities for the Bank. Barbara joined Fortress Bank in 2009 with over 20 years of financial institution experience functioning previously as Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Treasurer for Midwest Financial Group in Peoria, which was later acquired by First of America Bank Corporation, when she moved to the position of Senior Vice President of Accounting Operations. Prior to her direct banking experience, she was a public accountant with Peat, Marwick, & Mitchell & Co., also in Peoria. She graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale with Bachelor Degrees in Accountancy and Mathematics. Along with a Certified Public Accounting certificate, Barbara carries a certificate in Computer Science from Illinois State University. Barbara serves on the Board as Treasurer of the Goodwill Industries of Central Illinois, Inc. She has also served Heart of Illinois United Way and YWCA of Peoria.

Andy is Fortress Bank’s Western Illinois Regional President. Andy’s lending career began over 30 years ago as a loan officer for Mississippi Valley Production Credit Association. After five years with the Farm Credit System, he joined the Carthage branch of First Midwest Bank which would soon become part of First State Bank of Illinois, now Fortress Bank and later served as senior vice president overseeing the lending function. Andy obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from Western Illinois University and is a graduate of the Madison Graduate School of Banking. Andy is a long time trustee of the Carthage Public Library District and also serves on the boards of the Hancock County Health Department, Western Illinois Community Development Corporation, and Carthage School Foundation and is co-chairman of the Hancock County Jobs Task Force Committee.

Mike has been with the bank since 1991 and has been a lender since graduating from college in 1986. Mike received his Bachelor of Science degree from Western Illinois University and is a graduate of the Illinois Banking School and the Graduate School of Banking, Madison, Wisconsin. Mike serves on the Illinois Bankers Association Agricultural Advisory Committee and is a member of the Carthage Kiwanis Club.

Troy has been in banking since receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a minor in Finance from Monmouth College in 1987. He worked 28 years with Norwest and then Wells Fargo, serving for the last 10 years as Area President for Illinois and Southeast Iowa. Currently, Troy serves with the Galesburg Athletic Boosters.

Keith is responsible for Fortress Bank’s commercial banking division. He joined the bank in 2015 and most recently was a Commercial Banking Officer with Parkside Financial Bank & Trust in St. Louis, Missouri serving middle market business clients. Keith earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Northern Iowa in 2009 and his MBA from St. Louis University in 2013. While in St.Louis, Keith also volunteered with Rise Community Development, an organization providing capacity-building technical assistance and training to community development organizations, government agencies and institutions in the Greater St. Louis area.

Senior Vice President - Loan Administration and Review
Omar oversees operations in Residential Mortgage Lending and Loan Administration, and participates in loan review functions. He previously managed two real estate development companies focused on historic adaptive reuse, and managed a specialized lending fund for an investment management company. Previous to those positions, Omar worked in commercial banking and lending for 24 years with experience in consumer, real estate and commercial lending and served as a bank senior lender in the Illinois-lowa Quad Cities market. He earned a degree from Luther College, an M.B.A. from the University of lowa and graduated from the ABA Graduate Commercial Lending School. Omar serves as Treasurer of the Moline Boosters Club, P.A. announcer for Moline High School athletics, and also serves on the Board of Directors of Bethany for Children & Families and the John Deere Classic.
Senior Vice President – Information Systems and Operations
Brian has management responsibility for all systems, technology and operations of the Bank including electronic customer delivery platforms. Brian graduated with honors in 1986 from University Of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree - emphasis in Finance. Brian has an extensive IT and operational background having served in leadership roles for several middle market companies in the Quad Cities market. Most recently, he was Technology and Management Consulting Director for RSM (formerly McGladrey). Brian served as the Chairman of the 2011 John Deere Classic PGA golf tournament and continues to be a member of the board of directors.
